Gone With The Wynd Expedition Number 11

Expedition to The Amazon Rainforest – 12 – 23rd January 2024

12 nights / 13 days £2150 (US $2600)

I look forward to January like a Turkey looks forward to Christmas so I’m really excited to be going to the Amazon Rainforest in January in January 2024 – come with me.

This trip will be an immersive experience in the world’s largest, most biodiverse rainforest – we will arrive in the extraordinary city of Iquitos – the world’s largest city that is inaccessible by car and spend the night in the city centre  before setting of the following morning over 100km downstream to a remote lodge where we will base ourselves for five nights with multiple excursions by foot and by boat in search of wildlife, after five nights we will return to Iquitos and head over 100km upriver towards the Pacaya- Samiria Reserve where we will spend another five nights before heading back to overnight in Iquitos and leave the next day.

We will be immersed in the wildlife of the world’s greatest river, accompanied by expert local guides we hope to see sloths, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, marmosets, river dolphins, poison arrow frogs, caiman, river otters, anacondas, macaws, extraordinary birds, giant waterlilies, orchids, ferns, palms & tarantulas.  We will canoe through the flooded forest, visit native communities to learn about their customs and cultures, drink rum in a wild distillery, learn about medicinal plants, swim in lakes and the Amazon River, go for night walks and see the stars, trek and camp out in the rainforest, fish for piranhas.   The days, and indeed nights, will be packed with activities, however as we will be based out of two lodges activities will be optional.
